18 Sep OLYMPIC MEDALLIST DUO SUPPORT 1000 PRIMARY PUPILS IN NORTHWICH RUN
NORTHWICH primary schools came together for a mass fun run on Wednesday 18 September 2019 with Olympic gymnasts Beth Tweddle and Amy Tinkler attending the event as special guests.
Over 1000 pupils aged between 5 and eleven arrived at Moss Farm to take on the 2-kilometre run organised by GO Run For Fun and a number of local primary schools joined in.
Beth Tweddle and Amy Tinkler each led a warm up routine for the morning and afternoon events, cheering the participants when they started the run and throughout the route. The gymnasts also hosted a question and answer session after the events so the children could pick their brains about how they started their athletic journeys and what they enjoy the most about their sport.
Beth Tweedle said: “This is an amazing opportunity for everyone and I wish this was something I had when I was at school. I started Gymnastics when I was very young, I just loved flipping around all over the place, I did other sports in school but I’ve always done Gymnastics.”
Amy Tinkler added: “Everyone looks amazing today! I wish I had a pink t-shirt… I’ve always loved gymnastics – I started when I was 2 so I’ve been doing it for seventeen years now. Try as many sports as you can, there’ll be at least one that’s right for you.”
GO Run For Fun is an initiative supported by INEOS, a multinational company head-quartered in London, with health and fitness at the heart of its ethos.
INEOS Chairman, Jim Ratcliffe, is deeply passionate about running. He said: “It has never been more important to support young people in leading healthier, more active lives.
“GO Run for Fun and The Daily Mile have been making a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of hundreds of thousands of children in the UK and beyond for the last six years. We are very proud to support these two initiatives and everyone who runs in them.”
